For many Montanans, their families, and communities, addiction to alcohol or other drugs is widely misunderstood and stigmatized.
RELAPSE PREVENTION
Education
A person can safeguard their recovery by looking for the warning signs. Coping skills, recovery tools and mindfulness exercises will diminish the likelihood of relapse.
CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY
Assessment
Assessment and evaluation in identifying physical and behavioral signs of addiction to alcohol or other drugs.
GROUP
Counseling
You will experience a shared learning environment where you will encourage and support one another's contributions to the group.
REFERRALS ON
Mental Health
Instar provides expert care and support to people who struggle with a variety of mental health disorders.
INPATIENT TREATMENT
Referrals
Considering treatment is a positive step towards hope and healing. Referrals to Inpatient Treatment if medically necessary.
DISORDERS INVOLVING
Gambling
Risky and compulsive gambling have negative consequences to a person’s mental and financial health. Problem gambling is behavior that damages relationships.

Dimensionsof Wellness
We are a State of Montana licensed (SUD) substance use disorder clinic that operates outpatient treatment and a men’s 12 bed transitional living home, The John “Scott” Hannon House. Instar utilizes a variety of evidence-based practices that includes the SAMHSA (Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration) 8 Dimensions of Wellness and SMART Recovery (Self-Management And Recovery Training) in our services, get more information at https://www.smartrecovery.org/.
- All clinical services are reviewed and licensed annually by the State of Montana.
- Special grants may be available to offset the cost of services for clients who are financially eligible through our sliding fee.
- Services can be billed to Private Insurance, Medicaid, and Self Pay.
- Payment arrangements can be made through our financial department
* Confidentiality & Privacy Policy
- Your right to privacy is protected under the federal regulations governing Confidentiality of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Patient Records, 42 C.F.R. Part 2, and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), 45 C.F.R. Parts 160 & 164.
Exceptions include:
- The participant consents in writing; OR
- The disclosure is allowed by a court order; OR
- The disclosure is made to medical personnel in a medical emergency; OR
- The disclosure is made to qualified personnel for research, audit, or program evaluation; OR
- The participant commits or threatens to commit a crime either at the program or against any person who works for the program; OR
- Suspected child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse: We are required by law to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.
